Dental crowns in Champaign, IL are reliable and versatile restorations. They can repair several dental concerns, improving your ability to bite, chew, speak, and socialize with confidence and ease. At Anderson Dental, we focus on providing gentle, stress-free dentistry, and we strive to make your visit with us as comfortable as possible. Our dental crowns are of the highest quality, and we take pride in creating dentistry that lasts.

Why Might I Need a Dental Crown?

When a filling isn’t enough to repair a tooth or a tooth is misshapen, we may recommend a dental crown to cover, protect, and restore the natural structure of your tooth.

A dental crown can:

  • Protect a damaged or decayed tooth
  • Secure a dental bridge
  • Protect a dental implant
  • Conceal a stained or misshapen tooth
  • Cover a tooth that’s had a root canal
  • Protect a tooth with a large filling

The only way to tell for certain if a dental crown is the right restorative option for you is to see Dr. Scott Anderson for an appointment.

What Does Placing a Dental Crown Involve?

The tooth crown procedure is a common and safe procedure that makes your teeth stronger so they can last longer, and it can revive your smile’s natural beauty. We offer traditional crowns and CEREC same-day crowns, and Dr. Anderson will help you determine which one is best for you.

Traditional Dental Crowns

The traditional dental crown placement procedure usually takes two dental appointments to complete. We use a numbing agent so that you do not feel any pain or discomfort during the placement process.

First Appointment. First, your dentist in Champaign, IL examines the tooth and takes x-rays of your mouth. He then numbs the tooth and prepares it to receive the crown by cleaning it and shaping it for a perfect fit. Dr. Anderson takes an impression of the tooth and surrounding teeth to ensure the crown will fit with your bite. Our team sends the impression to a lab to fabricate the custom crown, which usually takes a couple of weeks. During this time, Dr. Anderson can provide you with a temporary dental crown to wear and protect your teeth between visits.

Second Appointment. When the custom crown comes back from the lab, Dr. Anderson checks the shape, color, and fit to ensure it’s a perfect match and blends in with your natural smile. He removes the temporary crown and cements the permanent one in place.

CEREC Same-Day Crowns

With CEREC same-day crowns, Dr. Anderson uses CEREC technology to take digital impressions of your mouth. We upload the impression to our computer, and we create your custom crown with our on-site milling machine. With same-day crowns, you don’t have to wait weeks for your new smile; you can get it the very same day!
